Liberation
Thanks to the documents recovered from the destroyed train in the previous mission, it’s time to retake Paris from German occupation. You’re not playing as McDaniels in the beginning of this mission, you’re playing as Camille Denis, AKA Rosseau, the woman from the French Resistance who helped you back at the train wreck.
You’re given a cover story to allow you passage through German held territory in Paris and acquire explosives needed to blow a gate and begin the attack to retake Paris from an inside man working for the Germans.
Review your travel documents. You’ll be asked questions as to who you are, who sent you, and why you’re here.
To gain entrance into the german stronghold, approach the guard and hand him your papers. When a prompt comes up, choose “Travel Documents”.
You’re looking for a man named Fischer, in a grey officer’s uniform. He’s operating under the name Oberst while undercover at German High Command in Paris. There are documents throughout the area in the hotel that you can read and people you can talk to to get more information.
There are multiple paths you can take. For the fastest route, toggle the spoiler below.
Across the lobby, you’ll see a room off to the left. Go into it and into the room at the back of it. You’ll see a German officer studying a map
After asking if he’s Oberst, he’ll say Oberst is downstairs playing cards with some other soldiers.
After exiting the room you were just in, head left towards the open hallway.
You’ll see an officer lock a staircase and start walking down the hallway. You can either follow him to his destination and pickpocket him or you can just pick the lock.
You won’t get caught if you pickpocket him at his final destination or if you pick the lock, so don’t worry about that.
Near this corner is a bathroom you can enter. In the third stall is the level's first Momento.
Once downstairs you’ll see a soldier acting aggressively with a woman and take her off into a side room. You may enter the room and either kill or leave - this is not a heroic action.
Talk to the German soldier in the back near the men playing cards - ask if he’s Fischer - he’ll tell you that Fischer is up on the second floor that’s off limits to civilians.
There are two staircases into the basement. Find the one that looks like the picture below and follow it up to the second floor to find Fischer.
Your contact is hunched over a desk. You can ask to make sure he’s Fischer or you can just launch right into the code phrase.
He’ll take you off to a side room and explain that you’re early, that you should meet him later to get the explosives. He’ll send you off on your way.
Follow your objective marker up to Kommondant Heinrich’s office, up one more level.
Go into the room and try to open the window, this will prompt the Officer to enter and act very suspicious about why you’re there. You’ll begin speaking in English. When he asks you his first question, choose SPIEGEL
The Kommandant recognizes you. He’ll knock you down and prompt a QTE to grab something you can bludgeon him with off to the side. Once you’ve killed him, make your way out the window and head to the war room to meet with Fischer.
Once you’ve made contact with him and exchanged your suitcase with his, he’ll be caught as a spy. Quickly make your way downstairs to meet with Crowley. You’ll be stopped a few feet short of him by a guard who will ask you a question, answer however you like, Crowley will come up behind and kill him before taking him off to a room on the side.
The next section is a stealth one, with the same rules as before, although it’s much darker now, with only a few bolts of lightning to light the area. Get onto the ledge to your right. Wait for the guard on the terrace near you to turn around before you approach the area, and hide behind the Nazi banner to give yourself some cover from the courtyard.
If you wait a bit another soldier will come out to investigate. Take him out too and make your way inside.
Head downstairs but wait for the two soldiers on patrol to leave the area.
In the room at the bottom of the staircase, you’ll find Fischer being interrogated. Quickly and quietly sneak into the room and save him. By the time you’re done, there should be a soldier in the staircase you just came from - take him out too.
