The new "episode" that rolled out with Quake 2 remastered, includes a number of missions and the missing link to Quake 1:

3:33:15 Credits and Opinion
* "Laser Eyes" is the "usual" Communications Array mission. Not a big of a challenge, but well made.
* "Wasteland" is another well made mission, using much more enemy types than "Laser Eyes". It also sports two bosses: the flying one plus an oversized Tank Commander (which proved to be a very difficult fight, until I figured out the "doctor respawn" process).
* "Corpse Run" is the closest to a "slaughter map" I have seen in Quake 2. Lots and lots of mid and lower-tier enemies swarm you at all times! Plus a dual boss encounter at the end to spice things up!
* "Firewall" is a rather typical Q2 stage, with Makron thrown in the mix again, this time as "The System Administrator"! Overall, it was quite OK and challenging.
* "Ruined Earth" tried to go for the "real world"/"down to Earth" feel and it reminds me of some HL2 levels. Alas, too many of the annoying mutants exist in this mission...
* "Darkest Depths" goes for a Lovecraftian Horror-"Quake 1" approach, right down to its final boss, which was quite the surprise (and the only NEW boss to appear in this expansion)!
* The final stage, "Temple of the Creator", unlocks only after you beat the previous 6 and the final boss(es)tries to CONNECT QUAKE 2 TO QUAKE 1 (in a rather childish way, but hey, they try).
Deaths were edited out to offer a seamless (and less boring) experience.
