I was lucky to have the Emission hit, right after I arrived back at the Freedom Base, with the first load of that gigantic arms shipment. The two Mercenaries I killed, were carrying way more than I ever expected, and the reason I always carrying two spare knapsacks on me. You never know if the body you are looting from will still be there, if you are unable to take it all and you want to return. A knapsack having the ability to be placed anywhere, is exactly what the situation calls for, especially since it may take more than two trips to move all the bulk.

Sadly, the Loner I had kept alive armed with just a pistol, apparently did not seek shelter in time and was now zombified. A much more terrible fate than what had befallen his comrades. Now I didn't have to worry about him spotting me, coming and going from the Base.
