#Repair Sometime last year, I accidentally tested mains power with my old analog multimeter when the dial was 180 degrees from Volts AC. Since then everything reads way off the scale. I like the old multimeter because it runs forever on just one 1.5 V battery and doesn't run it down if I forget to turn it off, like every other tester I've ever owned. But as far as I can tell, they don't sell them anymore. Then I saw a cheap tester for like $13 at Micro Center. I figured maybe I could use the new one to test and fix the old one. Here's how that went.
