Can the Steam Deck Run Hogwarts Legacy? - SteamOS 3.5 Gameplay
41In this video we are taking a look at Hogwarts Legacy on the Steam Deck. The Deck is running on SteamOS 3.5. Hogwarts Legacy is an action role-playing video game set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The game came out in 2023 and it's a third person action RPG. As a student at Hogwarts in the 1800s, players can create their own character, attend classes, explore beyond the school's walls, and shape their wizarding destiny.
In the early stages of gameplay, "Hogwarts Legacy" demonstrates a visually appealing experience on the Steam Deck, achieving almost steady 50-55 FPS with the Recommended Medium settings and FSR 2.0 set to Quality.
This, however quickly changes with the actual post-tutorial gameplay. The game is best run at low-medium settings and 30FPS Lock. In this video I tested Hogwarts Legacy with various settings both unlocked to 60Hz and locked to 40Hz. The game performs overall really well if you don't mind the occasional hiccups. At a 30 FPS lock and low-medium settings you can stretch the battery life to almost 2 hours.
