It’s the Culmination of 21 Films.
21 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe came BEFORE Avenger: Endgame. 21!
In the film world, that’s unmatched. The only franchises that come close are Star Wars, Harry Potter, Fast and the Furious, and maybe James Bond, but that’s more episodic storytelling whereas the MCU is serial storytelling.
The only mediums that have a similar build-up possibility are novels and television, and even then there aren’t that many examples.
The Film as a Whole Had a Production Budget of Over $300M.
There are just over a dozen or so films that have had budgets over $300M—and that’s when you adjust for inflation.
99.9% of films don’t get this kind of budget. That’s a little depressing for a screenwriter like me, because it probably means I’ll never get to write a scene like this that gets made. But, hey, I’m sure as hell gonna try!
Star Power.
The number of named actors and actresses who play characters who have their own films or who have appeared in big blockbuster movies in the past… is unbelievable.
How Kevin Feige managed to get this many giant movie stars in one film is mindblowing.
The Legacy of the Comics: As if all these stats weren’t enough, this movie isn’t just the culmination of 21 movies. It also draws from a mast comic book universe. It’s simply stunning.
