The old canary in the coal mine term came from the miners who would bring a bird down with them to insure that they didn't die from gases. Many know this of course... but also, the frogs in the local area can tell you a lot about the level of pollution, and also the magnetic fields. If we observe the animals, we can at least get a general idea of the health of our environment.

Gives ya something to look out for anyway. So we aren't all like... "SHIT MAN...I'M GONNA DIE!!!" lol...
