With Vladimir gone, another problem appears - Yuri has revealed his hand, causing a lot of issues to the Soviet forces. He now hold control over a majorioty of areas in US due to Psychic Beacons, and Soviets cant afford invading the areas again. Premier Romanov, despite the disapproval from Chinese and Latin side, decides on a rather risky gambit - its time to force the head of USA to cooperate.
Wow. Just Wow. What a mission. I want to be honest, I know that people do not enjoy sudo-dungeon crawler missions, but holy crap, this one is fantastic. Enough of praise. Let's go.
First section puts you outside Alamo, with intent of clearing out the area and capturing Dugan. You're given 3 useful tools for this mission - Morales, Boris and Drakuv. Trust me, they will all be of great importance. Using morales try to eliminate the crew of key enemy vehicles, and using Drakuv "recruit" all enemy infantry to your side. Make your way toward the Latin camp to the west. Once reaching it, capture the derricks and start taking over all of vehicles in the area. You will need them. Sooner or later Allied troops will go on alert. The attack from Soviet side will begin, and your task is to clear the city from Allied forces and take out the base surrounding the Alamo. Thats self explainatory.
I will note easter eggs for this part here.
- Elliminating Cow with abnormal level of health will spawn a T-Rex to aid you all out assault part. Must be done before Allies are alerted
- Visiting the civilians selling "goods" and gathering 12000 credits will grant you Wonder Drugs and Rage abilities
- There are 3 diggers located near Hospital, behind Alamo and in the middle of city, taking them out will allow you access to certain area in next part.
- One of three derelict Mammoths are located near the second egg, remeaining 2 are in next section.
Turns out that Dugan has an old Chronosphere under the base, and uses it to escape the pursuit. Morales and Boris, now armed with Arsonist bombs and EMP Grenade Launchers immediately board Drakuv and go in a chase into a chrono vortex. Welcome to part 2. Triple Abrams Tanks from behind will be your friend of the day. This section relies heavily on depiloting, gathering troops and stealing enemy forces. Dugan will exchange his sweet ride into IFV, and if you played vanilla, you know what happens later. Be careful of enemy attacks from behind, utilize the tools and captured forces to full extent and chase him into another Chronosphere.
- There is second out of 3 derelict Mammoth tanks, take it out because you wont be able to return to this section later
- Behind Chronosphere there is a path leading to a farm. Take out all animals and UFO will move away to aid you in later part of mission.
Section three. This one for msot of time has no annoying Abrams spam. but has a lot of empty vehicles. gather what you can, and push forward to the another Chronosphere. Enough said.
- There is a third derelict Mammoth Tank. Taking it out will open a path to a blocked of region with help of Amphibious Transport. Located there is Missile Silo, that Dugan will use against you. Destroy it to make your life easier.
Section 4. You get an immediate spam of not only Abrams Tanks, but also 3.3 Flashbang Bulldogs and Robot Tanks. Once again, you have to breach your way to the Chronosphere, but this time you get more enemies behind you. SImple as that.
- If you destryed the diggers, there will be an accessible part of map in this section. Capture the Spies from Allied base and use them to infiltrate the Radar Domes to obtain prototype Laser Bulldogs. Those will follow you to final section of map.
Finally, the chase ends here. It's time to shut down the bloody IFV and apprehend Dugan. However, he plans to not leave without a fight. There are Prism cannons, there are insta kill fileds, there is a Battleship shelling at you and Allied reinforcements pouring in. Avoid all threats, keep your heroes under the healing effect of Drakuv and you should be fine. Once IFV hp drops to 0, mission will be accomplished.
- The UFO that flew away before will take out the battlehsip once it fires couple of salvos, so it wont remain a problem for long.
Anyway, this mission was one of best i played - and one of more fun too. APRA2 devs - MORE!
