Cast Out Colony has a pretty cool idea of building a colony that will help you prepare for the night's attacks by enemy bugs. I liked that idea. I did find progression to be slow, and the limited weapons to be a bit of a detractor. You earn flowers each night which you can then use to buy new things or make upgrades.

There feels like a lack of effective weapon choices being provided to you as the player in the early days of the game, which makes going on subsequent runs often feel like an exercise in futility. Essentially, despite how successful I may have been on a run it really felt like I was getting nowhere in my quest to improve my colony. I finally got an acorn weapon, but the overall lack of an effective way to attack in multiple directions was really offputting.

The atmosphere is quite nice, with a sunny blissful morning/day and a creepy night atmosphere. Overall I think it's pretty promising and the colony building aspect certainly bring something new to the mobile tower defense game where you're the tower genre.
