Catalonia, illegal referendums, and why noone there is being opressed at all.

For the first time in my channel lifetime I'm going to do a thing I actively avoided in the past. Making a video about politics.
The nauseating stupidness I'm seeing in worldwide media about what's going on in Spain and Catalonia has to somehow be challenged, and someone has to at least put out there that what's going on there is not what the uninformed morons of the press have put out (of course without properly informing themselves first).
I make a very strong personal statement aswell on this video on my personal stance on Catalonian independence. I don't have a problem with independentists, they're free to have an opinion and act upon it as long as they respect the law, and I'll defend their right to have their independentist feelings until the end.
But wanting to do something doesn't give you free reign to suddenly decide that laws magically don't apply to you. Catalonia is, nowadays, a part of Spain and subject to the spanish constitution and laws.
And the problem is that right now those who called for the referendum are doing something that according to the spanish constitution and laws, is illegal. When you do something illegal you should go to jail, and if the police can do something to prevent someone from doing something illegal, they should do it.
That's the problem here. In Spain noone is opressing catalonian indendentists. THey're trying to uphold the laws and defend the constitution. Which is the number one obligation of every government in any civilized democracy in the world.
Yet RETARDS in the media (even seen in The Times, FFS) are selling the idea of a few claimants for freedom being opressed. What.the.Actual.Fuck.
And again: There are ways within the legal system to achieve independence, As long as someone independentist acts according to those laws, I'll defend him even if I disagree with him. As long as someone independentist acts legally to change those laws so they give them a bigger berth for a legal secession, I'll also defend him even if I disagree with him.
but if said guy says "Fuck the law, fuck the constitution, I'm not bound by the laws now because I'm worth it", my answer would be "no you don't, and if you try to, you'll go to jail"
If that makes me an opressor and a repressor, Then indeed, I'm one.
