Welcome back for another CDP, and this time I'm taking on Dan's challenge to me to make a semi-functional Cubic deck... because let's face it, that's the best we got for the Cubic theme right now. The Cubic archetype is led by Crimson Nova the Dark Cubic Lord, a Level 10 DARK Fiend that can Special Summon itself from the hand by revealing 3 other Cubic cards. To facilitate this requirement, some Cubic S/T support cards can banish themselves from the GY to provide additional effects, such as Cubic Karma which tutors a Cubic Monster or Cubic Dharma which recovers one from the GY. After you've accumulated 3 Crimson Nova, you might be lucky and may be able to Fusion Summon Crismon Nova Trinity the Dark Cubic Lord, a powerful Fusion that can't be destroyed or targeted by card effects, can attack twice, and halve your opponent's LP when it declares an attack. While you can use the in-theme Fusion method of Unification of the Cubic Lords, I prefer to use Dark World Accession, since it can banish the Fusion Materials from your GY!
Moving along, let's talk about the Lightsworn side of the deck, since this is how you mill all of your Cubic support cards to the GY. The Lightsworn is a theme of predominantly LIGHT monsters that send cards from the top of your deck to the GY, or benefit from being sent to the GY. Wulf, Lightsworn Beast and Felis, Lightsworn Archer contribute Level 4 monsters to your board, ultimately letting you Synchro or Xyz Summon to send even more cards to the GY, and Judgment Dragon and Punishment Dragon serve as the twin Level 8 Dragon bosses. Speaking of Level 8s, that's also where the Horus theme comes in, as access to The Zombie Vampire is a great way to increase your milling capabilities, as well as give you a solid option for getting dead draws out of your hand and into the GY. Finally, since we are milling so much, a few members of the Tearlaments archetype have also earned slots in the build, giving you even more Fusion Summoning opportunities, as well as just more mass milling. Finally, the ultimate mass milling card also makes an appearance: That Grass Looks Greener. This mills until your deck matches the decksize of the opponent, priming your GY for endless potential plays. Enjoy my 2024 take on the Cubic theme, and catch you next time with a heavy Fusion hybrid strategy.
