Welcome back for another profile, this time centered on asking the question: what happens when you combine a mainstream Spellcaster archetype with a group of Spellbook support cards to make use of the recently un-forbidden Spellbook of Judgment. Since this isn't the first time I've covered Exosister, I'll direct you to my prior video to read more about the unique capabilities of that archetype: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIS-pTfgTUk
Now what has changed since the last profile? One card, Exosister Martha. This new monster can summon itself from the hand and an Exosister Elis from the deck, giving you two monsters to either leave on the field to trigger their Xyz-Summoning effects during the opponent's turn, or to naturally make a Rank 4 Xyz Summon immediately. This provided the Exosister archetype with enough of a boost, empowering them to compete at the top tier level. Given that all of the Main Deck Exosister monsters are Spellcasters, I had an idea - how about throwing a Spellbook engine into the fray. The Spellbook archetype consists of various Spell cards that offer high search power through Spellbook of Secrets or Spellbook Magician of Prophecy, combined with powerful tools such as Spellbook of Knowledge or Spellbook of the Master to continue drawing through your Deck at lightning speed. The theme also features one of the most powerful cards ever printed, Spellbook of Judgment, which gives you additional card advantage during the End Phase, based on the number of Spellbook activations.
In short, this combination does two things. First, it gives Exosisters more speed to get to Martha and their two Trap Cards for additional disruptive opportunities. Secondly, it gives the theme an alternative control path, giving them Spellbook of Fate or even Jowgen the Spiritualist to lock down the opponent from Special Summoning. See for yourself with the replays - perhaps it may not be the best version of Exosister out there, but it sure shows a creative way to try new combinations of themes!
