The IDE world is changing rapidly. There are some strong new IDEs that try to support C++, but as much as I like them for other languages and platforms, they just can't compete with CDT at working with native (real native) code. However, at the same time, we realize that our lead won't last forever and we have to consider where we need to go next to remain competative.

Much of this talk will go over the great things CDT does, especially with some of the new features we've been working on for the last few years. The more I get to work with C++ projects, the more I appreciate all the great things the CDT team has put together.

I'll then go over the challenges we face, both technically with the Eclipse platform and experience-wise for our users and customers, especially embedded developers who really need a great IDE to help them deal with the complexity of the systems they are developing.
