heh I finished this last Wednesday, and meant to post it Saturday I guess time escaped me. oops!
This one was really fun to make. but oh my god, I spent so long on this, and right after finishing last week's painting that took about 13 hours. heh I really shouldn't try to tackle two really really big time consuming pieces after another. hahah cuz dang, I was getting tired not even half way through to finishing this one. but I'm REALLY happy with it, and it was really fun, especially talking to chat about this while livestreaming on Twitch.
I just love my noodly dragon boys. So good. I really freaking love space and nebulas and stuff, so I really wanted to make a Nebula celestial space dragon with a Goddess or something. The idea is that the piece is called Creation, because stars and planets and other collections of frozen dust, gas, and chemicals etc, are formed in Nebulas. so I wanted to Dragon to have nebula wings, and the space Goddess' hair misty nebula clouds, as well as her body blending into them. I was really struggling on figuring out what I wanted to do with the Goddess as well. At first I kept just making her like a pretty lady, and I just wasn't happy with it no matter what I did. Plus, the Dragon with a pretty woman just isn't what I wanted to ever go for... :P So I realized I was thinking of this all wrong, and that I need to make her look like she was ascended or beyond a human. humanoid and related or connected to Humans some how, but not "human" in the way of mortality. So, to make this humanoid look "not" human feeling, the biggest way we humans identify humans as humans is faces, so, I gave her like a celestial mask, crown, thing that turned into it's own solar system look, to match the dragons horns. Then I also gave her nebula wings, and her body the sculpted curly swirls in them to match the dragon as well, showing she has a lot of relation with this dragon too! and That seemed to do the trick of making her look like she was beyond mortal humans, but something greater. so I'm really happy with how she came out and I think she is very beautiful.

Also ohhhhh my god, I really can't tell you how much effort and sheer amount of time consumed on painting nothing but Nebulas, even with painting over some photoshopped crops, (which are like completely painted over or changed etc) took the MAJORITY of the hours on this piece. Reminder, this piece took a total of 19ish hours.... most of that was just painting nebulas. wowza the work, the time, wild. It was interesting including some photoshopping to my paintings. I know they teach it in college courses and professional artists that work for like Riot and Blizzard etc do that for like plants and stuff, but I always tried to stay away from it over all. but even then, I really can't express how much all the nebulas are painted by hand, and totally changed from the photos, if it was a cheat in any way lol it wouldn't have taken probably 12 of my hours in this 19 hour piece. Painting nebulas is wild.
