Launched in May 2013, Spark IO is an open source startup for hackers and DIY enthusiasts, creating all the hardware and software people need to make their own connected devices. Plus, their products come super cheap, making building connected gadgets easier and more affordable than ever. One of Spark’s creations is the Spark Core, a tiny development kit that helped to make a smart Hobbit sword that turns blue when there is unsecured WiFi networks present.
