By combining Gaea with an Arnold procedural snow shader, you can get great flexibility on the final look. I can enhance the existing snow coming from Gaea by utilizing the geometry's 📍 normals as an alpha channel to drive my snow shader inside Maya. This approach enables independent manipulation of the quantity of snow on the side faces versus the top faces.
You can see here that I'm using a ramp to help crunch the alpha that's coming from the normals to help drive and force the intensity of the snow
