Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Deadly Moves for the SEGA Genesis developed by System Vision and published by Kaneko.

In the wake of Street Fighter II, every Joe in the business published a fighting game. Some of them even used Joe as their protagonists. Well, one of them did, at least. Deadly Moves pits once such fearsomely named combatant in a tournament for global martial arts supremacy. He’ll have to face guys like Warren and Nick, and with names like that, you know they’re fierce! Deadly Moves is a simple 2D fighting game very similar to Street Fighter. The difference is that you can choose which opponent to face, kind of like the Mega Man games, and you actually level up after each victory. So although the game’s fighting mechanics are fairly predictable, Deadly Moves also includes a few twists that were unique for its time. The game was released on the Super Nintendo as Power Moves, and it’s known in Japan as Power Athlete. Not the sports drink! Deadly Moves is a single and multiplayer fighting game.

This video review features video gameplay footage of Deadly Moves for the SEGA Genesis and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
