Of course an image viewer is going to be the preferred method to view an image if it's available as option but if it's not option that doesn't mean you can't view the image, with the power of terminal graphics and tools like Chafa you can render surprisingly high quality images directly within your terminal, granted it's really slow but it's awesome none the less.
