CURTIS WRIGHT Chipco Games :
Curtis has a Bachelor degree in Nuclear Engineering, and an MBA in International Marketing from the number 1 school (at the time) in the USA, The University of Michigan. His background in Sales and Marketing in the High-Tech Silicon Valley has translated to the Chipco way of doing things.

We actually have design goals for our games:

· Fast play: We aim for a play time of a maximum of two hours, mostly 90 minutes.

· Easy to learn: A maximum of abstractions for die roles; players should be able to play without the GM after 3 turns.

· Ease of play: Fight the battle, not the rules. A minimum of charts and tables.

· Bottle of wine rule (thanks to John Hills): A player should be able to play the game after drinking a bottle of wine (or, per LWTV, a glass or three of Scotch).

· As a Go player: Go takes a few minutes to learn, and a lifetime to master.

· Differing levels of play: We have a basic game, advanced rules, and optional rules, so a player can make the game as rich in history as they want.

· Emphasis on actual military tactics like reserves, flanking forces, strategy and tactics. flanking the line, not the unit (Chipco Cheesy Whip).

· A minimum of dice rolling. Only one d10 per general.

Our main emphasis is on C&C. Armies in the DOK period were not cohesive or standing armies. Units, especially lower-level units, are thrown together units. They are not going to do anything complicated without a character (read lord or feudal Lord), telling them what to do. This regulates the moral of units, the fighting capacity of units, and the ability of units to stand up to a charge (panic rules).
The variability of units is abstracted by the D10, which gives a much richer outcome of results than a D6. Lower-level units are much more likely to be defeated than elite units.

In Addition, we also have a rich history of gaming and history:
John Hills has been playing Chipco games since the 1980s, is an accomplished painter and player, and is a reenactor for both the WotR and ECW periods. He adds a unique perspective, and a European viewpoint.
Curtis Wright is fourth generation military; his father was an Ace fighter pilot with Chenault and the Flying Tigers in WW2. He went to The US Naval Academy (even though his ancestors were West Pointers). He started out with Cribbage and Chess (winning a few Chess Tournaments), board games, Bridge (a couple of master points), Go, and miniatures. He ran the Warhammer Fantasy Battle tournaments for around 8 years in the San Francisco Bay area.
