Chess by Chess Prince First Impressions [Beginner Test of Levels and Puzzle]
Let's play Chess, a board game published by Chess Prince. As you know, chess is one of the oldest strategy games in the world. Chess is an excellent board logic game that develops such skills as tactics, strategy and visual memory.
The publisher Chess Prince has tried to create an application that allows a player of any level to enjoy the game. Basically, you start the game, unlock levels and try to be the Chess Master!
Let's remind the way the chess pieces move:
- The pawn moves to one field forward. It can move two fields forward when it moves for the very first time. It beats diagonally to one field forward.
- The king moves to one field in the vertical, horizontal or diagonal.
- The queen moves to any distance vertically, horizontally or diagonally.
- The rook moves to any distance vertically or horizontally.
- The knight moves to the field two fields along the vertical and one horizontally or one field vertically and two horizontally.
- The bishop moves to any distance diagonally.
There are important situations to know when you play chess:
- Check: this situation happens when a king is under immediate attack by opponent's pieces
- Checkmate: this situation happens when the player whose turn it is to move is in check and has no legal move to escape check. In that case, this player loses the game.
- Stalemate: this situation happens when the player whose turn it is to move has no legal move and is not in check. It's then a draw between the 2 players.
The goal of the game is to checkmate the other king.
There are two special moves in chess:
- Castling is a double move, performed by the king and the rook that never moved.
- En passant is a move in which a pawn can take an opponent's pawn if it jumps over a field under the pawn's blow.
Features:
- Ten levels of difficulty
- Chess Puzzles
- Game Assistant (Helper) that you can deactivate if you wish to
- Ability to undo a move
- Hints of moves
- Stars for levels completed without using the undo button
- Seven different themes for the chess board
- Two board views (Vertical - 2D and Horizontal - 3D)
- Alternate mode
- Two player mode
- Realistic graphics
- Save function
- Sound effects
- Small size app
The artificial intelligence obviously plays very badly in the lower levels. It doesn't want to win at all, doesn't take the pieces it should (it just ignores them). So it's pretty easy even for beginners like me to play the different levels until advanced level. :)
