67Chinese survival with monument building – does it really work?
In my first review of Chinese Frontiers, I take on the role of a simple construction worker in medieval China. Our goal: to build the legendary Great Wall – brick by brick, tower by tower, in three compelling biomes: mountains, desert, and riverlands.
What makes the game special:
Step-by-step construction system: precise and artisanal – woodworking, brickmaking, stonemasonry workshops
Village management: recruit NPCs, cultivate fields, breed animals, optimize camps
Cultural extras: Authentic cooking, traditional decorations, narrative guidance by Jun & Mei with cutscenes
Strong visual design: UE5 technology, micro-performance optimizations – great environments & building animations
Sure, Medieval Dynasty has more depth in its family and dynasty story – but Chinese Frontiers scores with monumental buildings, a story ending plus a sandbox mode, and the fresh Chinese flair
Weaknesses:
Minor performance bugs, NPC pacing sometimes sluggish – but the developers respond quickly with patches, and you have to like the building mode!
