DC Universe Online is a free-to-play superhero / supervillian MMORPG that lets players create their own unique tights-wearing hero or villain and roam the streets of places like Gotham City and Metropolis fighting or creating crime. Players fight alongside such iconic DC Comics characters as Superman and Batman, Lex Luthor and The Joker, and many others. Excellent physics help bring comic book action and combat to life, all under the creative direction of noted comic book artist Jim Lee.
Cross-Faction Groups Have Arrived!
Cross-Faction Groups are finally here! Now Heroes and Villains can form pre-made groups together and run content as a team. This means players from opposite moral alignments can now join forces to tackle alerts, duos, and raids without needing to be in the same faction. Grouping is done through the existing Social menu. Once formed, mixed-faction groups can enter and complete most PvE content together, expanding team options and making it easier to play with friends regardless of faction.
Note: Cross-Faction Grouping will not be available in the following faction-specific open world zones:

Patrol 3: Brainiac Returns
Patrol 3: Brainiac Returns is launching July 29 and runs through August 25! This is the third of four installments in Campaign 2025, our year-long journey featuring four unique Patrol Events. Each Patrol offers exclusive rewards and counts toward your overall campaign progress. Finish the required objectives in each Patrol to earn your pick from the Campaign 2025 Mega Rewards pool. Missed earlier Patrols? No problem, buyouts are available, so you can still catch up.
Third Patrol Event: Brainiac Returns
Brainiac has returned, and the fate of the city hangs in the balance. Patrol 3: Brainiac Returns runs from July 29 through August 25, dropping players into the heart of a full-scale invasion. Join forces with the Justice League and the Legion of Doom as they battle Brainiac’s forces (Ep. 47) across Bottled D.C.! This is a limited-time event! Log in and play daily to push back the invasion, earn event progress, and unlock exclusive rewards before time runs out!

Want to catch up on the event? Players can use Marketplace Currency to instantly unlock rewards for Patrol 3: Brainiac Returns with the Event Buyout option, available through January 13, 2026. The buyout cost is prorated based on how many event days you haven’t completed. To buy out the event, navigate to the Patrol 3 event page in-game.
