Chungus Tries Half Life, Part 5: "We've Got Hostiles"
I was joking when I said it would take three years to edit and upload this video at the end, but after two years and nine months, that estimation was right on the money. Computer troubles, life responsibilities, and a lack of determination are to blame for my general inactivity for the past year. The previous episode was a nearly complete old edit found on my laptop (hence the lack of a thumbnail), but I had to return to the original recordings to edit this part completely from scratch. These ancient files had many flaws, including constant frame rate drops, both video and audio stutters, low resolution and bit rate, and sub-par game settings (the field of view is way too tight and the texture filtering is muddy). Despite being recorded on four tracks, the audio suffered badly from high bleed in the voice channels and improperly set recording levels, resulting in unfixable peaking, distortion, and noise in both the game audio and our voices. Technical headaches aside, this episode was a blast to edit through and well worth the headaches and labor that brought it to life. I started honing many techniques, including photo editing, audio mixing, and even rotoscoping at a basic level to make every moment of this episode as polished as it could be. I hope that my audience enjoys the final product as much as I did bringing it to life. More content is on the way, including the rest of the old Chungus recordings and eventually a follow-up, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Music used that will most likely get this video demonetized:
King Crimson;
"21st Century Schizoid Man" (specifically the "Mirrors" section) - fast forward
"Frame By Frame" - second fast forward sequences
"The Sheltering Sky" - mashup with Valve theme at the end made by me
Yes; "Rhythm of Love" - sound effect starting the flashback sequence
Pink Floyd; "Vera" (from The Wall) - the sad song when Chungus diesI don't make a penny off of these videos, so I don't give a dingus how many claims it gets. All that matters to me is that good music makes videos significantly better.
If you're curious, I own legal copies of every song I used.If you have any questions relating to the making of this or any of my other videos, feel free to ask, preferably sooner rather than later while I still have the source files.
