0Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a narrative-driven RPG set in the hauntingly beautiful world of Lumière, where an annual ritual known as the "Gommage" causes all individuals above a certain age to vanish. In response, the people of Lumière send yearly expeditions to confront and stop the Paintress, though none have succeeded.
The game follows the 33rd expedition, led by Gustave and his companions Maelle, Lune, and Sciel. Shortly after arriving on the mainland, the team is ambushed by Renoir, a former expedition leader who now protects the Paintress, believing she granted him immortality.
