Okay so y'all know already I'ma be sleeplocking on Saturday, February 8th, 2014 on our twitch account (Clearpearl_productions). These are the rules.

I) MAIN NUZLOCKE RULES: (For any nuzlocke challenge)

A) Pokemon "die" when they faint (Permanently boxed or released)
B) Can only catch the first pokemon encountered in every route/area (cities count as areas). If the capture attempt fails (pokemon faints/flees/etc), no pokemon is gained in that route/area.
C) Must nickname all captured pokemon

II) SLEEPLOCKE RACE CHALLENGE: (For people with ridiculous sleep schedules)

A) Challenge is begun and livestreamed at 8 AM sharp on a Saturday. Challenger cannot leave for any reason (sans health reasons, or something else deemed really important) until:
1) The Champion has been defeated
2) A Game Over occurs (Challenger is whited out) (irrelevant due to mercy rule)
3) Challenger falls asleep.

III) OTHER OPTIONAL RULES CHOSEN FOR THIS SPECIFIC CHALLENGE

A) Dupes clause: "First encounter" rule only applies to the first NEW pokemon (including evolutionary tree). New pokemon are any pokemon not currently considered as "owned" in the pokedex or another member of that pokemon's evolutionary tree. For example, A Rattata or Raticate cannot be considered the first pokemon of the route if the challenger has already caught a Rattata earlier in the challenge, even if that Rattata has died before evolving.
B) Randomized starter: Starter is chosen at random based off of the last digit of the trainer ID assigned at the beginning of the game. 1-3 results in Chikorita, 4-6 results in Cyndaquil, 7-9 results in Totodile. An ID ending in zero means the challenger gets to choose the starter he/she desires.
C) Non-wild captures: Pokemon given to the challenger by another NPC are allowed to be used, regardless of whether or not it is the first encounter of the route. Pokemon hatched from eggs can be used no matter what (until they die of course), but eggs can not be received if they were created by the challenger's own pokemon. Trades with NPCs can occur, but only if the traded pokemon is legitimate (Traded pokemon was captured by or given to challenger legitimately) Received pokemon still follow the Dupes clause, preventing challenger from purchasing multiple of the same pokemon or receiving a traded pokemon that they already own.
D) Set battle mode: Immediately upon beginning the game, the challenger must go into the options menu and change the battle mode to "set," preventing the challenger from switching out between opponents' pokemon.
E) Beginning "No Pokeballs" Clause: "First encounter" rule is not enforced until the game allows the challenger to capture pokemon.
F) HM Slave Clause: If no pokemon is owned by the trainer that can use an HM necessary to continue with the game (not Fly or Flash), challenger is allowed to capture a pokemon from a previous route/area that can use that HM, but it may not be used in battle. Dead pokemon can also use HMs as long as they are not used in battle. As soon as another legal pokemon is gained that can use the HM, the other illegal pokemon can no longer be used for HM purposes and must be permanently placed back in the box once more.
G) Shiny Pokemon Clause: If a shiny pokemon is encountered, it may be caught and used even if it is not the first pokemon encountered in a route/area. Also ignores dupes clause.
H) Mercy Rule #1: Gym Leaders act as "check points." If challenger whites out, instead of getting a game over, he/she is sent to his/her last save point, which can only be created immediately after earning a gym badge.
I) Mercy Rule #2 (NOT MENTIONED IN THE VIDEO): Every second gym badge has a revival effect, meaning as soon as the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th gym badges are obtained, challenger can revive one dead pokemon. This must be done as soon as the badge is earned and therefore can not be saved for a later use.
J) Mercy Rule #3: Starter Pokemon is named after the challenger and will not die when fainted. However, it can only be revived with a revive or max revive in the middle of battle, and only once per battle.

IV) WIN CONDITIONS

A) The Champion is defeated before the other challenger completes his/her playthrough of the game Demon Souls. Even if the race is lost, the challenge goes on until the champion is defeated or Challenger falls asleep.
B) The race is considered won after defeating the champion, but the challenger may choose to continue the nuzlocke portion of the challenge into post-game material to another end point (i.e. Red is defeated.) while ignoring the sleeplocke rule (After defeating the champion, Challenger is allowed to take breaks).
