In this series, we play through each of the battles in the American Grand Campaign in Close Combat 4 The Battle of the Bulge. In each battle, we use historical WW2 US Army doctrine.
Episode 9 Echternacht (16 December 1944)
US 109th RCT 28th Division v. German 5th Fallschirmjager Division
Echternacht should be used as a breakwater against the German tidal wave flooding the Ardennes. The train station, lumber mill, and the town centre and key objectives for the defence of the town. Keep these secure and hold the road open to Esch sur Sure so that German formations can't flow west of the town. Echternacht can serve as a vital jump off point for an attack northward into the German spearhead.
