Trace Compass has a built-in tracer that can be used to trace itself, or other projects.

To enable it, add the following two lines to your launch configuration:

Djava.util.logging.config.file=/home/user/work/git/org.eclipse.tracecompass/logging.properties -Dorg.eclipse.tracecompass.logging=true The logging properties file is in the trace compass git, but can be copied out.
