The fundamentals of the most popular gaming franchise of this millennia.
3/4/2012
Some things I forgot to mention:
-Twitch gaming-frequently switch your body from side to side and angle to angle so that you can exercise your finger muscles while not in danger.
-Always orient yourself (very useful in team games)-Watch where your teammates are and who dies, and who kills who. Enemies usually spawn opposite of your team .
-Know spawn points-helps you avoid dangerously high traffic areas.
(applies more to 30 fps shooters like soldier front)-dragging down your crosshairs while full auto or burst fire can sometimes be a way of controlling recoil, although its not dependable. But it's a pretty powerful method nonetheless.

Finally, not all weapons are created equal. You can't apply one general rule of thumb to every single weapon in the game. Each has its own variation of weapon handling styles. This is what makes each weapon unique from each other but also is a bit frustrating. Hehe. ^_^
Kinda like Yugioh believes in his cards, you should have faith in your shots. It goes a long way.
With sniping, there are many variations in techniques:
-you could work with the sway of the scope (by letting it go naturally or by moving it manually) and line up your sights
(via positive or negative lead)
-you could hold your breath, work against the sway, line up your sights
(via positive or negative lead)
With sniping, it's all about accommodating the situation to your needs
Quickscoping and not holding breath=like driving automatic in car, great for fast reflex people and closequarters
Hardscoping and holding=like driving manual in a car, the act of pressing down on left joystick to hold breath means another thing to keep track of, meaning you are more alert in the game. great for slow relfex and accurate people who are sniping far away.
All in all, react to the situation, predict where the enemy will be, aim, fire, and let the game's physics handle the rest.(in real life you would have to do more compensating for the physics and environmental forces, but in this, just aim and shoot.)
How to reload cancel: While in reload animation, double tap the change weapon button
Also, turning off auto aim assist also makes you more alert in the game. I gotta admit though, I'm pretty used to auto aim lol. It helps compensate for the lack in accuracy while using a gaming controller. (PCs are so accurate and comfortable they don't need aim assist).
-Be calm, sometimes the easiest kill can be ruined if you panic
-Don't always chase after someone, and don't always be afraid to take risks, it should be 50/50.
-No matter how much someone has an external advantage, like perks and killstreaks and proficiencies, reflexes, reaction time, and good finger muscles w/accuracy is still the best way to go ^_^
-Changing sensitivity lets you look around much faster, but makes it harder to aim. try to find a balance and pick the most comfortable setting, don't go overboard.
-You know you're having fun when you're having fun losing.
-Pay attention to shadows too, it really helps.
-When you have a concussion or any other non lethal grenade in your hand but want to cancel it, just press the switch weapon button
-Tapping the switch button twice will cancel a reload animation--pretty cool ^^
