I’m playing Colossal Cave VR on PSVR2 with Sense controllers.
In this video I start the game. This game had my interest as it is made by Roberta Williams, who is a gaming legend and has made some great games in the past. Colossal Cave being her ‘return’ to gaming release, I had to check it out. And currently it has 25% off in psn sale so it felt a good time to get it.
The game Colossal cave originally was a text only game from the 1970’s and has been brought to life in VR in this game and it works, fairly well.
The game is a puzzle adventure with RPG elements and has a very retro feel. It also feels like a last gen VR game with a small draw distance, blocky looking environments, low res textures and lots of aliasing in the distance.
But it does have a certain charm too it and im having fun over an hour into the adventure. The graphics do look last gen but look good at times, with the darker cave areas looking nice as the fire light lights up the rooms.
My first impression was this aint good, and after an hour, now it aint that bad, it’s not great, but not that bad. Ive played worse.
Id say so far get it while its on sale, its a fairer price currently for what we get and if you go into this game knowing its a retro feeling game that doesnt do much “next gen” at all really youll have a good time i think.
