There was one Renegade mod that offered a single-player campaign experience: Commando. Initially, Renegade was called "Commando", so this mod emulates that feeling by including pre-release content, switching out old weapons and vehicles for those originally intended. This mod never reached a release version, and was abandoned for over a decade. Still, it's an okay experience and the playstyle is different. We also get a shotgun.

The campaign is harder. The bugs (namely the M16 issue), the new loadout, and the more aggressive AI make it a bit of a slog. Some weapons are completely absent and replaced with others, though ammo is never an issue since the drops provide more than you can ever carry. It's a different experience, and while I wouldn't call it bad, this playlist is short for a reason. It's very same-y, and tedious at times.
