To detect the ice, I wrote this command:
/scoreboard players set @e[YourEntity] YourScoreObjective 2 {Inventory:[{Count:1b,Slot:8b,Damage:0s,id:"minecraft:ice"}]}
This will detect all entities that have ice in their ninth slot.
Change the parameters to whatever you feel fit! :)
