Galencia, developed and published by by 'Team Galencia' for 'The C64' in 2018.

"EARTH, 2017, We didn't listen to the warnings. We decided to ignore the decline of our bee population, and now their guardians have arrived. You must pilot the 1981 Galencia Fighter and restore order. Before its too late!"

Galencia is an original game for the C64 based or inspired by the arcade game Galaga which never saw an official conversion to the C64. Note that Galencia is its own game and not trying to be an arcade conversion. The gameplay is smooth and the enemy sprites are all detailed and colourful. The game has an interesting mechanic for awarding a twin shooting ability by allowing the Siren to capture your ship costing you a life and then a chance to rescue the ship. Extra lives and score bonuses can be earned in the challenge levels and also the twin ship if you don't already have it. The game has 50 levels giving you a goal to achieve. Much better than being an endless score attack.

I've recorded three releases of this game as each one has a few minor differences. For each video I have set the stars and score colours uniquely for each video. This version was included in a firmware update for 'The C64' by Retro Games Ltd. This version has no loading or intro title screens and loads straight into the game. Notable differences are the games logo colours and the score graphics have been squished down. I also recorded this one with the 6581SID that an non modded TheC64 emulates.

Overall its a well made game for the C64. Great gfx and plenty of music. The game has nice overall presentation with mini animations showing launch and landing. Most notable is the comms and score/bonus displays that display in the border

This longplay runs a little longer than the previous two as I attempt to score by waiting for the enemy to swoop down and attack for larger score per kill. I think maybe my previous (steam) strategy of shooting down columns as quick as I can works out best for me.
