1沙盤模式會遇到的即時戰鬥大致分兩種: 任務與遭遇戰，而遭遇戰除了一些特別的細分之外；常遇到的就類似自訂戰役的對ai戰鬥
這部分的戰鬥在英雄連隊系列又分"殲滅"與"搶旗"兩種模式，個人認為殲滅是比較簡單的，而搶旗必須確保三處五角星的旗點有至少兩處是在自己掌控下，所以得額外分派兵力防守旗點，考慮到英雄連隊的人口特性，這部分決策是我還需要精進的
而一般的遭遇戰狀況，我的起手式通常是2~3支步兵，之中混搭一隊有噴火器的工兵針對躲掩體的敵軍(英雄連隊1因為需要工兵建築，所以至少都要兩隊)，並快速生產出一台具輔助性質的輕型載具，M3卡車可以是前線需求進行醫療或是機砲等等的改裝，很推薦
或是對自己操控有自信的朋友也可以先把卡車換成成本較低的機槍班以協助主力部隊壓制敵人步兵
之後就要看對方情況來決定增加反載具還是其他功能的兵種了
