Condemned: Criminal Origins is a dark, first-person psychological thriller where the player has the opportunity to experience an abnormal level of mental tension as they track down serial killers and use their own instincts, court procedures, sophisticated investigative tools, and in many cases, hand-to-hand combat skills in their investigation. We play the role of Ethan Thomas, an FBI agent who, in search of serial killers, travels through urban environments full of deadly sociopaths lurking on the outskirts of humanity.
Our task is to investigate crime scenes, collect evidence and find clues leading to the perpetrators of the crime and finally bring them to justice. There may be a killer lurking around every corner, so using any weapon that will make us survive is our priority. When there are no bullets in the service pistol, a shovel, a fire ax or a piece of a plank torn from a bench work just as well as a weapon - anything that we can find nearby. Our character is also equipped with a number of other helpful tools, e.g. a digital camera or palmtop, thanks to which we can contact the headquarters.
Condemned: Criminal Origins offers photorealistic graphics (including very well made motion capture), advanced gameplay physics (created using Havok 3) and very sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithms. The psychedelic atmosphere of the game is enhanced by sound effects generated by the environment and issued by psychopaths lurking in the dark.
