Console Fighting Games of 2001 - Heavy Metal Geomatrix
3Developed and published by Capcom, Heavy Metal Geomatrix is the second game developed using the long-running Heavy Metal comic series following the 2000s PC release Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. 2. Heavy Metal Geomatrix is an arena-based fighting game similar to Power Stone but with a much greater focus on weapons use.
This second Heavy Metal entry did not make its way to the PC, following its Japanese arcade release it would make its way to the Dreamcast, releasing in both Japan and the US, and a European release would follow in 2002. The game is themed around Heavy Metal several real-life heavy metal bands' music are used in the game's soundtrack these include the likes of Megadeth, Halford, W.A.S.P., and Corrosion of Conformity.
After a rename in 2021 Heavy Metal Entertainment, LLC the following year the company would suffer serious financial problems with the following year seeing the company close its doors after 46 years. Issue 320 would be the final issue of the Heavy Metal comic series.
