This sequel to the 1992/93 released Wimbledon Championship Tennis, was again developed by the same Japanese studio SIMS.co and the same publishers in Sega and Tec Toy Indústria de Brinquedos.

As with the previous game, it makes use of the Wimbledon licence but otherwise no licenced content appears in the game with generic player names for both the male and female tennis players.

As with the previous game, Wimbledon II offers two game modes a free match mode and a tour mode. the free mode offers player vs computer, player vs player as well as doubles variations.

This sequel unlike its predecessor which releases on both the Genesis and Sega Master System would only release on the Master System with releases in Europe and Brazil in 1993.
