i had a recent comment to a previous video and in my reply i attempted to verbally? describe the process shown in this video.

my reply was as follows:
“ ... like any camera, i would not suggest changing lenses in direct sunlight. however i would suggest switching lenses with care, and being in a safe stable place when you attempt to do so. a lens goes on a g1 (or g2 for that matter) slightly different than a standard bayonet mount.

for sake of verbal illustration, lets say there are 3 rings on a g series lens. a, b, and c. a is closest to the body. the b ring (lets call it the “breach”) is next to the a ring. ring c is the aperture ring and operates as expected (sort of).

when placing a g series lens on a g body, you align the red dot on the “A” ring with the red dot on the g body, you insert the lens and hold it flush to the body. with one hand you hold the “A” ring and dont let it move, and with the other hand you rotate the breach (b ring) until the breach snaps into position and the lens is locked into the g series body, while not allowing the “A” ring to move.

if the “A” ring moves at all during this process or is misaligned/not flush with the body the gold pins on the body or gold contacts on the ring may be damaged.

oh almost forgot, i always make sure the camera is off during the process and the flathead motor drive blade is somewhat oriented properly so the lens inserts nice and flush to the body.

i prolly have done a horrible job attempting to describe this, maybe i should make a video to further confuse things lol ... “
