Rather cool color fixed screen shooter in which you patrol a laser base at the bottom of the screen like Space Invaders, but you need to pick off invaders emerging from the left and right walls. Their goal is to steal from the center walls which surround 2 ships you want to protect. If an alien gets the ship and makes off with it you will lose a life. You will also lose a life if you are shot by the aliens' fire. You can only shoot one shot at a time, and the alien lasers can cancel your shots. Using the "strafe" technique from Space Invaders is very helpful. The 2 bunkers are generally a nuisance in my opinion, as they tend to block your shots. After about 3 paces an invader steps away from the wall you will be able to nail them. Take note that occasionally an alien will move much quicker than the others! This is really annoying; he will not stop until you blast him. A UFO will sometimes fly overhead and is worth bonus points (just like the Space Invaders UFO), but also, a satellite may appear. This will mirror your movements (so you might want to stop before shooting it) and it can fire at you. These 2 enemies are worth the most points in the game (up to 300, I believe), so try to hit them if possible. But most of all, you want to keep an eye on those ships in the center. Blasting an enemy carrying one will not return it to its original position! The next emerging alien can quickly grab it and pull it off the screen! There is so much going on at once that I can't help but admire the challenge and adrenaline rush! Pretty cool game-- the 3rd in the "Cosmic Series" created by Universal from 1979-81. Note: If you try to record this through MAME via File/Play and Record Uncompressed AVI File.. you're going to find this game does NOT want to be recorded! Or at least it happened in my version of MAME. You might opt with Bandicam or something. Enjoy the college/pro football seasons, folks!
