Count Batula — Conker's Bad Fur Day (Zelda: Wind Waker & Twilight Princess Soundfonts)
I figured I should do something spooky this year for Halloween, which surprisingly I've never done before. though I gotta say, I was inspired to do it because my gf LOVES Halloween—she really opened up my eyes to the fun of living it year-round. it's also her birthday today! everyone wish spooky vibes upon her
they gotta give the violin player in this song a raise, they fiddled their ASS off
the crazy thing is that Conker and Twilight Princess actually share a lot of the same samples when it comes to the orchestral staccato stuff. here you'll hear the same contrabass, violins, and trombones; even Wind Waker comes in with the same harpsichord. so in a way, it's like a semi-restoration! except it's funny that Conker has waaaaay more samples per instrument than the Zelda games, but to fit in the 64MB cartridge they had to be stored at a puny 22050Hz sample rate. that's almost SNES levels of sound quality, but hey at least they had almost all the possible samples!
I'm reeeeeeally looking forward to doing a restoration of this song and possibly other ones from Conker in the future, but the sources are really badly documented in the sources sheet. I found plenty on my own just by digging through Peter Siedlaczek's Advanced Orchestra and Roland's L-CD702, but I can't get the violin because it comes from a JV expansion board, and I don't even know where to begin looking for the timpani (which sounds AMAZING so I'd really love to have the full thing). oh well, I'll just restore what I can for now and upload it if some saint can provide me with those samples 😉😉
