these second versions are what most people expect to hear when they think of "restoration." I've seen a lot of @tssf streams where he talks about being unsure which samples to include in a restoration for fear of armchair VGM enthusiasts (me tbh) saying "um that doesn't sound the same so it's not the same instrument ☝️🤓"... it's a tough world out there. so I decide to get around the problem entirely by uploading two separate versions. it splits viewcounts and hurts channel performance but hey, I've accepted that by now
something I didn't mention in the other video is that the snare and tom samples weren't originally that punchy when finding them in their original sources; they were both pretty normal. they required edits such as compressing the beginning of the snare sample so much that the wave is literally full up-full down and back again: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EATq... the tom is similar, with manually added "noise" to make it stand out in the mix like the original: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vpfB...
