Welcome back to my Countdown to Sonic Mania! This is a series of videos looking back at the majority of the Sonic The Hedgehog Franchise in anticipation for the upcoming 2D platformer Sonic Mania scheduled for release August 15th 2017
We've crossed dimensions and have landed on Flicky Island. Our friends have been captured by Dr. Robotnik and it's up to us to save them. Sonic 3D Blast was released on the SEGA Genesis in 1996.
Panic Puppet Zone changes things up on you. This time, you do not have to destroy the badniks in order to free the flickies. Something that I wish they would have used a bit more. It allows for more exploration and a bit of a change of pace. I mean, your still doing the same thing....but for a slightly different reason. I mentioned that the music in the Saturn and Genesis were different...but in this zone, both versions get used in later games. The Genesis version you may recognize as the Twinkle Park theme from Sonic Adventure and the Saturn version was remixed and used in Shadow the Hedgehog.
Footage captured from Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on the Xbox 360.
