Counter-Strike: Condition Zero leaked prototype - cs_penal (cut map) (full walkthrough)
5This is a walkthrough of the map cs_penal, which was cut from the final Counter-Strike: Condition Zero but appears in the leaked CZ prototype. The level was designed by Ritual Entertainment, who worked on CZ before Turtle Rock Studios got a hold of it.
This map is a hostage rescue level that takes place in what is supposed to be a prison. After going through it, it's not hard to see why it was cut: the level feels more like a generic deathmatch map than a Counter-Strike one. If you removed the hostages and their rooms, it'd make for a decent Half-Life deathmatch map with good item placement.
The skybox was not included with the prototype, so the game uses the default Half-Life 1 sky.
