When fighting Fafnir you have to defeat the 3 paladins located around the map. Once you have defeated the paladins Fafnir will appear in the middle of the big bridge.
When you get to Fafnir there will be some lizards and goblin archers hanging around. You can kill them without awakening Fafnir and this will make the battle a little more bearable.
Fafnir can drop black gunpowder, Fafnir's reversed scales, and diamond. The items he has can have the onslaught and eruptive enchants on them.
