Watch this MiG-29 RC plane perform two breathtaking flights, showcasing its impressive aero capabilities! This short video captures the essence of the thrust vectoring MiG-29 flight capabilities with stunning visuals and maneuvers, making it a must-see for rc planes enthusiasts. From takeoff to landing, enjoy the flight!

The flights were performed without using gyro stabilization, making it all the more challenging!

And while at it, the Promodeler DS150CLHV servos testing goes on, and so far they are holding up!
These are some serious servos!! The torque and reliability of the stock stab servos are a known achilles heel of this otherwise fantastic model, and for a long time I got away with murder with a couple of Corona's DS-238MGs as replacements, but it was high time I upgraded to something proper for the bird size. And no, this video isn't sponsored, I paid for the servos myself, thanks! ;)

I haven't yet put enough flights into them for me to say that they are the best thing around since the advent of molten cheese, but from all the information I have been able to gather, I am pretty confident these are some of the best servos you can get in this weight and size class (if not the very best), particularly at this price point.

So far, I haven't yet made the proper modifications on the aircraft to run these servos at high voltage, which is kind of a waste of their potential and I'm sure John Beech from ProModeler would rightfully scorn me for it, but it will be done in time. And for the time being, the very change of servos already allowed me to feel the jet being a lot more locked-in and I also managed to increase the throws without fear of putting too much load on them. Maybe it's harder for you to tell from the video, but I did notice indeed. The extra throws are super important for me, since they are paramount to my style of extreme post-stall flight.
Now I can fly even crazier maneuvers!

These were Anežka's flights 290th to 291st.

Regarding my MiG-29 setup:

QUICK LIST OF MODS
CG 15mm behind factory marks on the wings.
Reflex trailing edge by 3mm flaps, 5mm ailerons (aprox).
Reinforced stab assemblies to torsion (Epoxy - thick glass fiber laminate).
Reinforced stabs to prevent deformation (WBPU - thin glass fiber laminate, 18g/m2).
Replaced stab servos first by Corona DS-238MG, and then ProModeler DS150CLHV.
Replaced stab linkages by 4-40 threaded rod with heavy duty Du-Bro ball links.
Removed stock BEC.
Installed separate 20A UBEC that runs from a standalone receiver battery (2S 610mAh).
Installed ferrite chokes on ESC-Rx leads (next to ESC) and on the stab servo leads (next to servo).
I am using the old FrSky Redundancy Bus for everything except landing gear, lights, and everything that goes through the ribbon cables (ailerons, flaps, gear doors), as these need to go through the BB.
Shortened some of the wires, as I installed the RBus in the aft battery compartment.
Removed the toe out on the main landing gear struts by filing the chamfer on the axle pin that connects strut with retract.

I was concerned about the structural integrity of the stabs, and stab assembly so I did reinforce them with glass fiber cloth. After my reinforcement mods, the stabs are much more solid now. 💕

I took many of the 'well-known' ideas and good practices about this model recommended by other pilot-owners on forums such as RCGroups and Hobbysquawk, including adding reflex to the flaps and ailerons to reduce trim drag, unloading the stabs and maximize top speed. I also replaced the taileron servos by better ones, their linkages by 4-40 pushrods, and also installed ferrite chokes on the ESCs leads to the rx as well as the taileron servo leads to reduce potential RF noise on such long leads.

I also made my own personal installation of the electronics and basically rewired the whole jet, changed the placement of the components, added a 20A UBEC, a redundancy bus, 2x X8R receivers... the list goes on.
