The first major casualties of the CS:GO cheating scandal are pulled out of an ESL major tournament and replaced with new teams after the implosion of scandal ridden MIBR and Hard Legion. Plus, Riot announce their first major for Valorant, and will 100 Thieves be competing in it? And, will a bubble for CDL work next year? Scump and H3CZ debate it.

CS:GO Cheating Scandal Fallout Leads to Teams Removed From IEM New York

Now, before we say anything about this, we are only at the beginning of the thread for this story. How deep the cheating scandal that came out recently for the CS:GO community is still developing, and there is ZERO chance that this is going to be the end of the story. But we are finally starting to see some actual punishments handed out by the ESL that will have consequences for teams. After MIBR imploded because of a scandal that accused professional CS:GO teams (just how many, we are still not sure of) of using a bug in the game that allowed coaches to move their camera around the map during a game of Counter Strike, leading to an unfair advantage. And now, the ESL has announced that both MIBR and Hard Legion will no longer be eligible to compete in the upcoming IEM New York tournament, being replaced by Chaos EC and the winner of a tie breaker match between Invictus and HellRaisers (the teams that finished 5th and 6th in a closed qualifier).

Riot Announce First Valorant Major, Will 100 Thieves Compete?

With the wrap of the Ignition Series in Valorant, fans of the new esport were wondering what was next for the scene. We now have at least the first part of that puzzle, with the announcement of the First Strike tournament, which is going to crown regional champs across the globe. North America, Europe, CIS, Turkey, Asia, Middle East, Oceania, and Brazil will all have their own champs, and that’s a big step for the previously low grade tournament lineup that Riot had allowed. All of the tournaments will hold “merit based qualifiers” (whatever that means)
leading to about a bajillion Top 8 First Strike finals tournaments for teams to compete in between December 3rd through the 6th. What’s pretty crazy though is that this is not limited to just professional teams; amatuer teams will be allowed to compete in the qualifiers as well, though how well they will do is still up for debate. So we are officially seeing Riot step in and make a real play at what they had previously expressed hesitation over; a professional scene that is shaped, managed, and guided by Riot itself.

Scump & H3CZ explain how the CDL bubble can work

Bubble tournaments have been all the rage thanks to COVID, from the NBA to MMA to even the Overwatch finals all taking part in one. But now, thanks to rumors circulating about the CDL possibly implementing one for the 2021 season, there has been backlash from some players who don’t know if this is the proper way to go. With sentiments split down the middle, Chicago Huntsmen’s H3CZ and Scump have come forward to discuss how this could possibly be done.
