Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) expands upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched 19 years ago. CS: GO features new maps, characters, weapons, and game modes, and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust2, etc.).
CS:GO Major Championships (colloquially known as Majors) are tournaments sponsored by Valve with a prize pool of at least $1,000,000 (previously $250,000). They were first introduced in 2013 at DreamHack Winter.
Earlier versions of Counter-Strike also had Majors, but they were not supported by Valve.
The first Major at DreamHack Winter 2013 introduced map collection-based souvenir packages and souvenir weapons with a souvenir quality yellow theme in the inventory. The packages act as containers that can be opened without a key and can be obtained by watching the tournament via GOTV or via Twitch with a linked Steam account. The souvenir packages at this Major came with six uniquely designed stickers with normal and foil variations. Weapons dropped from these packages came with just one sticker applied.
EMS One Katowice 2014 famously introduced buyable team stickers in normal, foil and holo versions, which can be opened from sticker capsules. Weapons dropped from Katowice packages came with three stickers applied – two foil team logos from the spectated match and a golden wolf or skull design. The latter were replaced by the tournament's organizer logo from ESL One: Cologne 2014 onwards, while the former were changed to the gold version from DreamHack Winter 2014 onwards. ESL One: Cologne 2015 introduced player autograph stickers in normal and foil versions, which on souvenir weapons were selected based on the round MVP. MLG Columbus 2016's All-Stars Showmatch souvenirs came with special blue and orange holo stickers. PGL Kraków 2017 added gold player autographs.
IEM Katowice 2019 introduced the paid Viewer Pass, which overhauled and integrated the Pick'Em Challenge and became the only way to get souvenir package drops by completing event-related missions, alongside an upgradable event coin and team graffitis. StarLadder Berlin 2019 allowed users to directly buy souvenir packages. PGL Stockholm 2021 added team patches, notoriously limited player autographs to playoffs and exchanged player autographs for map stickers in souvenir packages.
Starting from ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018, Valve announced a new overall tournament format, which brought in the Offline Qualifier as a part of the Major Championship. This change increased the number of teams at the Major Championships from 16 to 24 and re-named each stage of the tournament.

Eight teams (The New Legends) fight to become the Major Champion.
