HOLY MOLEY! We did it. This has been easily the most difficult/stressful category I've ever run in this game. Despite being a shorter category, the RNG associated with it combined with having to play on 1 HP for the vast majority of the run makes it so that any small mistake is a killer! The time for this category could still realistically go down another 20 seconds, but I'm just happy to take the WR in it. I'm probably going to be taking a small break from Cuphead speedrunning to unwind a bit from this category before diving back into other Cuphead speedrun categories!

Q: How are you able to play on Expert without beating the game first?
A: Speedrunners use something called the "Fresh Expert" glitch for Expert mode categories. Basically, if you have a save file where you've already beaten the game, you access that first and select a boss. On the difficulty select, you put the cursor over "Expert" (no need to actually fight the boss), and then back out and Exit to Title. When you start a new file you will begin the game on Expert.
Q: Why do you use the Cursed Relic on most of the bosses?
A: So an interesting requirement to get 100% on the DLC for this game is that you NEED to upgrade the Cursed Relic into the Divine Relic, otherwise you'll only wind up with 97% completion for the DLC. In order to do that, you need to fight enough bosses with the Cursed Relic equipped until it becomes "uncursed". So what that means is that we need to defeat every boss on the DLC Isle (with the exception of Moonshine Mob) in order to fully uncurse it, which makes this category a very interesting one to run!
