Curious Expedition 2 Highlands Of Avalon DLC Update Sneak Peak!
31Welcome to a sneak peak of Curious Expedition 2 Version 1.2 - Highlands of Avalon DLC! Curious Expedition 2 is a sequel to the hugely popular Curious Expedition with updated graphics and animation, enhanced gameplay where every decision can make or break the party and a larger focus on resource management through each individual foray into the unknown.
In this special preview we take our existing group of high level trek members out to experience the literal highs and lows of the new island, along with it's inhabitants, hazards and hoards of treasure for the taking... but always at a price! To discover as much as possible we delve in to the highlands island in the final year of director mode so I am able to showcase as much as possible of the new DLC. This content is available from the start of a new game too, either while playing through the campaign or in director mode which means there are plenty of chances to discover everything there is to the first paid content update released by Maschinen-Mensch.
So join me as we take our first tentative steps in to the hills as we explore the Highlands of Avalon DLC for Curious Expedition 2!
Curious Expedition 2 Gameplay Overview -
Curious Expedition 2 is a turn-based narrative roguelike that requires players to manage their resources and party members to keep insanity at bay and find glory.
A grand discovery has been made: mysterious islands have begun to appear and vanish from the oceans as if by magic. The great Explorer Clubs are funding expeditions to these strange islands to bring treasures back for the 1889 World's Fair in Paris. Are you bold enough to join the adventure?
Highlands of Avalon Update -
The DLC features a brand new island type (the Highlands) and contains new tile types, items, locations, enemies, and recruitable characters. Some of the locations will also start appearing in other island types, to expand possibilities across the entire game. The DLC is tied into the Royal Avalon Society Explorer Club, and comes with some new club unlocks for them as well. Once the DLC is activated it will expand possibilities across the entire game, both in Campaign Mode and Director Mode.

New island type: Highlands, with a completely new set of tiles, a new game mechanic related to traversing hills and valleys, a new tribe called the Picts and a new artwork for shrines
8 new Recruitables: Grail Knight, Precious Clydesdale (horse), Kobolds (3 variants: Bard, Scoundrel, Shaman), Picts islanders (3 variants: Spiritual Druid, Pictish Outrider, Tattooed Warrior)
4 new Enemies: Stone Golem, Kobolds, Lake Serpent, Black Wolves
6 new Locations: Giant Horn, Wishing Well, Pointing Statue, Wild Kobolds, Lake Serpent, Precious Clydesdale Herd
7 new pieces of Equipment: Pictish Spear, Pictish Crossbow, Bag Pipes, Legendary Blade, Magnifying Glass, Cuirass, Armoured Boots
5 new Items: Fairy Stones, Kobold Ear Wax, Stone Fragment, Bird call, Sea Monster scale
4 new Levels to unlock at the Royal Avalon Society Explorer Club in Paris, giving access to 1 Recruitable character and 3 pieces of Equipment
This is the first in a series of paid DLCs that will be released in the upcoming months. That being said, we are still planning to release free updates for the game in the future: there will be an Endless Mode option coming very soon, many of you have been asking for that. Additionally, the game is currently being localised into Spanish, Russian and Traditional Chinese.
