In this benchmark, I test Cyberpunk 2077 running on the Asus ROG Ally X with SteamOS 3.8 – Valve’s Linux-based gaming OS.
This is not your average gameplay. I use my custom optimized settings, multiple resolution modes, and real performance measurements including temperatures, battery life, and full overlay stats.

🔧 Tested Settings Timeline:
1:30 — My optimized in-game settings
2:20 — 1920x1080 Performance Mode
6:03 — 1600x900 Performance
8:30 — 1280x720 Performance
10:00 — 1920x1080 Balance Mode
11:42 — 1920x1080 Performance (again for comparison)
12:10 — Testing DLC: Phantom Liberty
19:23 — Full system overlay activated
🔍 My Observations:
In Performance mode (42W TDP), the ROG Ally X runs 10°C cooler on SteamOS than on Windows — from 91°C down to 80°C.
Battery Life:
Performance mode: ~1 hour 30 minutes
Balance mode: ~2 hours
OS used: SteamOS 3.8
🔧 Tested with Proton compatibility and Lossless Scaling OFF.
