Dark souls 1: Miracle run: Part 5: Belligerent Bandit before Boss beatdown
Years ago, I started but never finished my miracle only run. It's time to rectify that, so join me as I complete my miracle only run.
So, running around in human form, I was bound to get invaded one day, and I do, by a belligerent bandit. I should have signed in offline but went through with it anyway. I'm not sure on the etiquette of PvP duels but after running out of casts I wanted to try to lure him to a place where I could Force him off and let gravity do its thing but I really should have just gestured or let him kill me. Shrug. I definitely feel miracles are too slow to cast for PvP, and using only miracles won't work without Wrath of the Gods..... Am I a bad player? Probably...
Anyway. Somehow, I felt rather relaxed, patient and indifferent once I realised I could beat O&S with both the Red tearstone ring and the Ring of the Sun's Firstborn, using emit force to knock out Ornstein and any remaining casts would knock out Smough.
After them, I go on a rampage and knock out the Stray Demon (After getting extra experience with this guy on NG+, I realise the way I was dodging this guy was all wrong), Demon Firesage, Centipede Demon, Bed of Chaos, Dark Sun Gwyndolin, Great Grey Wolf Sif and the Sanctuary Guardian.
The Sanctuary Guardian surprised me with its electrical resistance, I thought it'd be lower. I also found it tricky to get casts off in time and had to cast after specific attacks. Thankfully, emit force saves the day again. But at this point, I was feeling pretty accomplished and feeling good again about completing the run.
Key characters and covenants to get miracles from:
Rhea of Thorolund (Wrath of the Gods)
Petrus of Thorolund (Force is helpful)
Seigmeyer of Catarina (Emit Force)
Oswald of Carim (Karmic Justice)
Gravelord Servant (Gravelord sword dance)
Warrior of Sunlight (Sunlight Spear)
Rings needed:
Red Tearstone Ring (RTR)
Ring of the Sun's firstborn
Other Items: Master Key
Path you should take (don't forget to grab souls when you run past areas):
At Firelink put all your levels in Faith so you don't lose your souls. Firelink to red tearstone ring. Bone back.
Head to the catacombs, skip all the skeletons (hah!) and get to the titanite demon guarding the eyes of death. Grab them. You need them to get to Nito's covenant after nestling in the coffin not far from the titanite demon. Join the covenant and grab the Gravelord sword miracle. Ideally homebone back out but if not run back. :S
Next is sunlight spear but you need to get to Warrior of Sunlight Altar without beating Taurus. To do this go to Undead Burg up to the Taurus Demon, go to Havel, run to darkroot basin, up to Andre. Get elevator shortcut at the parish. Get back to parish. Go past the boar and enter the area. If the gate is closed at the Altar where the bonfire is, then go down the sewer, skip the rats, past the lower level of the bridge where the hellkite dragon is, activate the ladder shortcut, rest at bonfire. Go back up and run past fire breath to get to the altar.
If you can level up your faith to level 25 beforehand that's awesome. If not, pop your collected souls and hope you have enough. May need to do some soul hunting in odd places for that to happen. You can farm the souls off the hellkite dragon if you're desperate. At 25 faith you can enter the Warrior of Sunlight Covenant and you'll receive the sunlight spear miracle. You can now start your run!
After, I'd recommend getting through all bosses that you need to ring the second bell to get souls and get your levels up. Then I'd go to do Rhea's questline. Seigmeyer should be next in Anor Londo to get Emit Force once you've finished talking to him in Anor Londo and gone back to Firelink. This will give you a good shot at Ornstein and Smough. After beating them, the run is a lot more flexible, and you can take your time and choose which way to go after that.
There are still a few hurdles.... Ornstein and Smough, Four kings, Manus, Kalameet and Gwyn are the hardest left to clear from my experience in this run. You'll need a lot of patience, sometimes both rings equipped at the same time and decent stats. May your faith be unwavering.
